Hello again,
Hard to believe that it’s almost September!
We just returned home from an amazing week of partnering with the Swiss NGO, “Seed” (https://www.seedbeginnings.com/). Seed is working in a very remote area of Battambang, Cambodia. This area is suffering under extreme poverty. Many of the adults have left for the cities to try to make some money, leaving behind the children and the grandparents to farm the land. Seed is doing some wonderful work in this community, such as a lunch feeding program, a library, kindergarten, loans for families to buy a cow, a child sponsorship program for high-school students, and much more. By teaming up with Seed, we could install two water filtration systems in schools where no safe drinking water previously existed, and a third filter in the NGO field office. Because the location was so remote, our family got to experience rainwater baths, battery powered fans, bumpy dirt roads, locally prepared food and of course, some amazing new friends! Benjamin joined in the kindergarten one day, I taught the hygiene curriculum in five different classes, and Lukas did everything else! 😉 We were so impressed with the work that Seed is doing, and would love to support them more in the future.
In the last month Lukas has been working with Ponlue, our Cambodian apprentice, to build more water filters, but teaching takes a lot of time and sometimes there are mistakes and Lukas has to rebuild the filters again 😬😉. But teaching others is an important part of establishing a sustainable project ❤️. Lukas also continues to grow and develop the laboratory, and in July we could add a photometer to the water testing equipment, as well as a few other items. With each passing month we come a little closer to having a working laboratory.
My brother and his wife came to visit us this month as well, and we enjoyed some family time together 🥰. My sister-in-law is currently working on a project in India for her company so they were able to sneak over for a long weekend.
Well, that’s it for now, and thank you again, for taking the time to read and to partner with us in this season of life. Here’s the photo link.

All the best,
