Hello dear friends and family,

How are you this spring day? I can only imagine the cool, fresh air you are breathing in… maybe with a hint of rain and flowers. Ahh! I do miss the West sometimes 😉 . It’s getting hot here, but not as hot as last year, so I’m thankful!

As I wrote last month, Lukas made a quick trip to Switzerland for our friend’s funeral. It was a sad trip to make, but it was also healthy and Lukas is glad that he could be there to honer Deif’s life. There were more than 300 people at the memorial service, a real testament to the many lives that he touched.

The last few weeks Lukas has been busy with ongoing  maintenance needs for the filter systems that are already installed. The nice thing about the maintenance trips is that he can travel by motorcycle. Benjamin and I stay home, but Pastor Noeurn usually accompanies him. They enjoy the time riding and working together.

Our work with the Water Project has been slow the last few months, so we have been looking and praying for some new connections. We’re excited to share two new partnerships that materialized in March. First, we’ve been asked by Foursquare Missions to install several water filtration systems in Sri Lanka, including a drug rehab center, a training center and some churches. We’re now in the process of planning a trip to Sri Lanka in August  2025. Our second new partnership is with Pastor Song, a Korean missionary that has a well drilling ministry. He’s looking for someone to partner with to provide water testing and filtration. Last week Lukas and Pastor Song visited two locations that have already drilled wells. Lukas took some water samples and is planning to install filter systems in May or June.

I could complete a fun project for Warm Blankets last month; it’s a reading corner for the Lunch and Tutoring Program. In the March newsletter I mentioned that we had a few one-time donation opportunities, and one of our readers reached out and offered to sponsor the reading corner. I contacted a local bookshop and asked if they could help us, and the owner was so excited about the project that she gave us her 25% buyers discount. The leaders requested 100 books, but I was able to purchased 125 and a bookshelf. Hopefully I can include the finished photo in next months update.

Our prayers and thoughts are with our partners in Myanmar. As you probably know, on March 28th, 2025 a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar. The quake caused widespread damage, and the death toll is expected to reach more than 10,000. We are reading updates through our friends in the Foursquare church. Through them we’ve learned that non of the leaders were injured or killed, and that they are currently assessing the damage in their communities and what aid they could potentially provide.

Tomorrow (April 1st) we fly to Switzerland. It’s been two+ years since we moved to Asia and it’s time for a visit. Lukas’ parents are excited to spend time with us, but I think it’s mostly Benjamin that they miss ;-).  We’ll be splitting our time between St. Gallen where our family is located, and Bern where we lived and have our friends and community. We also have some administrative tasks that we need to complete for our work with the non-profit, which will take up some of our times as well. For anyone that’s interested, we’ll be sharing an update about the last two years on Sunday April 27th at Verein Quelle at 10:15 am as part of the Sunday morning service (Hühnerhubelstrasse 66 3123 Belp).

Well, I think that’s it for this month. Hope to see a few of you soon.
