Warm Blankets Switzerland

Warm Blankets Switzerland is a non-profit Swiss association based in Kehrsatz, Switzerland. Lukas and Jenny Graf as well as Andy and Grada von Burg are the current board members and manage all the association’s activities.
The aim of Warm Blankets is to enable needy children in developing countries to have their basic needs met, including a loving family and a life with dignity. Over the past 20 years, WB has mainly focused on providing financial and practical support to partner organizations in developing countries.
As of January 2023, Warm Blankets is working independently in Kampot/Cambodia with the Clean Water Project. Clean drinking water is a major problem in developing countries and children are often the victims. This can result in impaired growth and development, and even death. Previously, the Water Project was managed from Switzerland and carried out through short term mission trips. Water filters were installed, water was tested, a hygiene training curriculum was written and local partners were trained to continue the project independently. Through the years The Water Project grew, as did Warm Blanket’s knowledge and resources, until it reached the point where we could expand and provide many more children in need with access to clean water. In 2022, the board of directors decided to put a special 3 to 4 year focus on The Water Project, and in January 2023 Lukas and Jenny Graf relocated to Cambodia to better lead and develop the project.

Warm Blankets in Cambodia, where Lukas and Jenny live
Lukas and Jenny live in Kampot in the south of Cambodia
The city of Kampot has approximately 50,000 inhabitants is located on the Preaek Tuek Chhu River in the south of the country. It’s about 150 km from the capital city, Phnom Penh, and is connected to the sea (Gulf of Thailand) by a 5 km long sandy delta. A few kilometers to the northwest is Bokor Mountain (1050 m above sea level) and other mountains with waterfalls and streams.
Kampot is a well laid out city and you can find most everything you need for daily life. In the various hardware stores, which are often a bit chaotic, you can also find most things needed for constructing and installing water filters. As of December 2023, there’s even a Starbucks coffee shop :-).
About 30 km to the east is Kep, a charming, touristy beach town. It’s easy to make a day trip to Kep, Bokor Mountain or other beaches by motorcycle or tuk-tuk. The people in Kampot are very friendly and helpful.
