Hello dear ones,

March was filled with some real highs and lows. Sickness has been stocking our household, and we’ve spent multiple days making trips to the doctor. There is a nasty cold going around which has an aggressive cough. When Benjamin had it we had to make a middle of the night trip to the hospital for a Nebuliser treatment and chest x-ray. He was a trooper and handled it well and we are happy to report that he has fully recovered. Lukas came down with it a few weeks later and it developed into Pneumonia (Lungenentzündung). It hit him hard and has put him out of commission for two weeks. He’s still recovering as I write this. The one good thing about getting sick in Cambodia is that medical care doesn’t cost very much; our trip to the emergency room with Benjamin cost just $53.51 (US dollars)!

We also had some wonderful highlights in March, which we are excited to share with you!

We installed water filters in three new community locations through our partnership with  the Kampot Pastor’s Association. We also checked in on two old locations where we installed filters last year. We were very pleased to discover that both of the filters that were installed in the fall of 2023 are working perfectly, and one community leader shared how much they like and value the water!

Our longtime friend and our old partner from FCOP, Makara Hang and his family visited us one weekend. It was so wonderful to spend time together and catch up. Their youngest son is the same age as Benjamin and the two little boys became fast friends.

We were invited to our first Cambodian baby shower, to celebrate the birth of our neighbour’s son. I’ve lived here for a total of five years, and I’ve never experienced anything like this. Check out the video clips and photos to get a better feel for the experience.

In January I decided to do a Bible study, and I sent out a group text to see if I could find one or two more ladies that might want to do it with me. I was shocked at the response I got, and now I am leading a Bible study with six women participating! Sometimes we find ourselves leading ministries or projects that we didn’t expect, but I’m very grateful for this community of ladies that I’m getting to know.

Well, that’s a little overview of our month. We hope that you are all staying healthy and we would appreciate your prayers for Lukas as he recovers from Pneumonia.
