Hello from tropical, wet Cambodia,

It’s always summer here, but sometimes I do miss those long, warm summer days in Oregon and Switzerland. At the moment the days are a pleasant temperature 25-29C (77-84F), just super muddy, which kind of puts a damper on the whole “barbecue by the river” vibe. 😂 But when the sun comes out, Cambodia is magical this time of year. Cool, vibrant green and water everywhere! The kitesurfing is also fantastic in July, when the rain decides to stop. In the photo link there are some photos and videos of Benjamin and I enjoying a waterfall and natural water slide that is only worth hiking up to in the rainy season.

This moth we installed filters in two new locations, the Friends Evangelical Church, and Lina’s Hope, a home and day program for children and young adults with disabilities. I did my first ever solo scouting trip to Lina’s Hope. Usually Lukas and/or Pastor Nourn do the scouting trips, but this time it was me. I was a little nervous collecting the water samples, but Lukas gave me directions and said that I did a good job, so I guess it was okey. 😂 Two weeks later we went back and installed the filter system for them. Their only request was that the tap be installed closer to the ground so that children who can’t walk or who use a wheelchair could access it independently. We were happy to accommodate that request.

We received a wonderful report from the Lunch and Tutoring program which Warm Blankets Switzerland supports through the

Kampot New Life Church. It’s such a simple program, but makes a huge difference in the lives of some of the poorest children in our community. Two hours every day, Monday to Friday,  25 children from poor and at-risk homes get a healthy, hot lunch and tutoring. Once a week they can also attend Sunday School (optional), and once a quarter they do a special activity together. Last quarter they went to the zoo! And that’s it. Our house is finished, and our move date in August 14th. What an adventure that was! We’re emotionally exhausted from the whole thing, but incredibly grateful to be moving into our own home. We want to say a huge thank you to both of our parents for supporting us in this adventure and giving us inheritance money to use on the land and house. It’s such a blessing to have the full support of both sides of our families as we continue to live and work in Cambodia. We are feeling very blessed.
